FAQs - 1/4" Bollard Covers

Our 1/4" Bollard Covers are made from 1/4" nominal wall thickness plastic and can fit over all pipe sizes from 3"- 12" diameter. Height depends on the diameter though the max cover height we offer is 84".

Measure the circumference (distance around the post)
Take that dimension and divide it by pi (3.14)

Example:

  • Circumference is 21"
  • Divide by 3.14
  • Pipe size in 6.625"
  • The bollard cover size you need is 6"

Pipe is measured by inside diameter. For example, 6″ pipe has an outside diameter of 6 5/8″. Our bollard sizes coincide with the pipe’s outside diameter, ex. our 6″ cover has an inside diameter of about 6 7/8″ to fit over the 6 5/8″ outside diameter of a 6” pipe.

Each bollard cover is delivered with two pieces of our patented foam neoprene tape. Apply the neoprene tape around the circumference of the steel bollard 3″ down from the top of the post and 3″ up from the bottom of the post. Once the tape is applied, slide the bollard cover over, eliciting the sound of air squeezing out between the post and sleeve as it creates a vacuum seal. If the above directions are followed correctly, the Ideal Shield Bollard Cover should fit tight with no gaps.

Bollard Covers eliminate the need to paint bollards which can save end users and businesses hundreds or thousands of dollars a year. The Bollard Covers also vastly improve the look of the bollards at any location by keeping the color and hiding any rust or damage to the steel post itself.

Yes, the 1/4″ thick covers are available in any color. All we need is a Pantone or Sherwin Williams color number. We have done custom colors for Fortune 500 companies and small shops with great results.

Lead time will depend on if we have matched the color before. We have matched over 600 colors to date! Lead time is 2-3 weeks if we've matched it before, and 4-6 weeks if it’s a new custom match.

We offer several different colors of reflective stripes for Bollard Covers including white/silver, red, yellow, blue, and green. Ask a rep for more information.

Ideal Shield Bollard Covers are available to be made in custom colors, can add decals, or eye bolts. For pipe sizing help, we also offer Steel Sizing Inserts to help smaller pipes fit larger covers.
